Terms of Service

Version 2026-07-21 · These terms govern your use of Second Opinion ("the service", "we", "us"). By sending a paid request to this service — whether you are a person or an automated agent acting for one — you (and the party responsible for you) agree to these terms.

1. What the service is

Second Opinion provides automated, AI-generated verification verdicts on claims you submit, for a per-request fee paid via the x402 protocol. Verdicts ("refuted", "supported", "inconclusive") are the output of an automated adversarial process. They are informational research only. They are not ground truth, and a "supported" verdict means only that an automated attempt to refute the claim did not succeed.

2. Not professional advice

Verdicts are never legal, medical, financial, investment, tax, safety, or other regulated professional advice, and must not be relied upon as such. If a claim touches those domains, the verdict is research about publicly available information, nothing more. Consult a qualified professional before acting in such matters.

3. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including accuracy, completeness, currency, fitness for a particular purpose, or availability. AI systems make mistakes; confidence scores are estimates, not guarantees.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising from or relating to any verdict is limited to the fee you paid for that verdict, and we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss (including lost profits, lost data, or losses from decisions or actions taken in reliance on a verdict). Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

5. Payments and refunds

Fees are charged per request in USDC via the x402 protocol at the prices advertised in the payment requirements of each endpoint. Synchronous requests that fail (HTTP 4xx/5xx) are never settled — you are not charged. Asynchronous jobs settle on acceptance; failed jobs may be retried free of charge via the retry endpoint. Once a verdict is delivered, the sale is final. Blockchain payments are irreversible by nature.

6. Acceptable use

You must not use the service for unlawful purposes, to seek assistance with causing harm, to probe or disrupt the service, or to manufacture artificial transaction volume. We may refuse, rate-limit, or block usage at our discretion.

7. Data

Submitted claims, context, and sources are processed by third-party AI infrastructure (currently Anthropic) to produce the verdict, and may be logged for operating, securing, and improving the service. The service has no accounts and requests no personal data — do not submit personal, confidential, or privileged information in claims. Verdicts are retrievable by anyone holding the job identifier.

8. Changes

We may update these terms and the service (including pricing) at any time; the version date above changes when we do. Continued use after a change is acceptance of the new terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
